A Britney Spears fan was arrested in Northampton County, PA earlier this year on suspicion of DUI. Channing Reynolds, 34, identifiable by his telltale Britney Spears tattoo, was taken into police custody in a DUI related incident in January.
Interestingly, however, it won't be a PA DUI attorney that Reynolds will be needing.
You see Reynolds may have been apprehended on a DUI charge, but he was a wanted man for another offense: Dognapping.
Reynolds had allegedly dognapped a chihuahua with pink earrings last July in South Florida, outside a popular gay bar. Unfortunately for the dog's owner, Brian Dorhort, 48, the suspect somehow evaded police custody for several months.
Dorhort had been throwing a birthday party at a Georgie's Alibi, a popular gay bar in South Florida, when a man with a Britney Spears tattoo approached him and insisted on holding the chihuahua. The chihuahua named Hudson Hayward Hemingway was only four months old. He was gone in a matter of seconds after that, and for several months, nobody could determine the whereabouts of the man with the Britney tattoo.
Pennsylvania authorities plan to extradite Reynolds to Florida, where he will face charges of grand theft in relation to the dognapping.
Reynolds has not been the only "wanted" out-of-state criminal located through a Pennsylvania DUI stop this year. Earlier this month, a Northern California murder suspect was apprehended during a Pennsylvania DUI stop. Ellis Gabriel Ross, 21, was extradited to California this month after riding as a passenger in a car that was pulled over for running stop signs. Although he was not the driver, a large quantity of marijuana fell from his jacket when he emerged from the car. As a result, Pennsylvania officers ran a police check on Ross and determined that he was being sought on suspected charges of murder in California.
As for Reynolds, he will be extradited shortly. Although the missing chihuahua has not been found, the dog's owner received a new chihuahua; after the news story of his dog's kidnapping made national headlines last summer.
