In recent months, there has been new proposed legislation at the federal level as well as educational campaigns aimed at cracking down on cell phone use behind the wheel.
Pennsylvania DUI lawyers are no strangers to the repercussions of cell phone use behind the wheel. Earlier in this blog, we told the tale of Frederick Patrick Poust III, the bus driver who killed while using his cell phone behind the wheel.
What was unique about the story was that Poust had killed twice, with the same modus operandi. Both times, he was using is cell phone behind the wheel.
Last Friday, Oprah Winfrey called viewers to pledge not to use their cellular phones behind the wheel. In a live episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Winfrey aired stories about loved ones lost to distracted driving.
Several celebrities came forward in support of Oprah Winfrey's No Phone Zone Pledge, including Tina Fey, Shaun White, Morgan Freeman and Queen Rania of Jordan, among others.
The No Phone Zone Pledge was a call to action, urging viewers to agree to make their cars a "No Phone Zone."
