Given that prom season is in our midst, Pa DUI lawyers are always glad to hear stories like this.
Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Chairman Patrick J. Stapleton III honored 46 students from across the state. The honor was given to these students in recognition of the work they did in educating their peers about the dangers of alcohol.
More specifically, their work was judged by means of a poster contest, whereby the youth were asked to create posters showing healthy alternatives to underage drinking. Over 800 students submitted posters, left to the judgment of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Posters focused on emphasizing healthy alternatives to drinking, exercise, community involvement and participating in athletics.
"Too often we hear stories about the kids in our communities who have made unhealthy choices," Stapleton said. "Today, it is my distinct pleasure to share with my colleagues the honor of recognizing these children for the incredible example they are setting for their peers, sending the message that there are healthy alternatives to drinking alcohol."
Miss Philadelphia, Andrea Helfrich, was also in attendance at the ceremony, along with representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the State Department of Health and the Pennsylvania DUI Association. Andrea Helfrich is an avid supporter of safe driving and had been a victim of a DUI crash herself.
It may be a wise time to focus on such education, given that summertime is approaching and school will be out shortly. We've discussed the dangers of underage drinking on this blog several times before. Essentially, Pa DUI attorneys are drawing their full attention to the topic, given the time of year.
The winning posters will be on display, if you're interested. They will be displayed at the Capitol in Harrisburg from April 26-April 30.
